What do you reforge as a disc priest

With two fully capable healing specs, it can be difficult to choose. I discussed Discipline Priest healing in my latest video guide. The text below is meant as a supplement to the guide.

More detail is discussed, as well as demonstrated, in the video guide. Start the video to let it begin loading, it takes a bit. The techniques provided in this guide are modifications to other guides online, as well as personal recommendations on how to effectively heal. To begin with, the most important aspect of healing since Mists of Pandaria released is getting armor with as much Spirit as possible starting out.

There are normally only two types of cloth Intellect gear at max level. The Spirit gear will often have a spattering of secondary stats that will have to be balanced accordingly using reforging. As far as that goes, first consider your mana. If you find yourself having trouble with mana in any fight, be sure that all your armor has Spirit on it. Haste will boost the speed at which your heal-over-time HoT spells tick, as well as your casting speed.

Crit, as per usual, increases the chance that a heal or damaging spell will critically hit. When weighing Gems and Enchants, think about the stat priorities. If you have enough Spirit from just your armor to make it through all the fights you encounter, consider Intellect boosts, primarily. The main gem you should be putting in your gear, assuming you care nothing for slot bonuses, is the Brilliant Primordial Ruby. This guide explains reforging, gemming, enchanting and gearing strategies for Discipline Priests in Siege of Orgrimmar.

I have years of experience as a Disc Priest and am tired of seeing people make mistakes with their gear. This guide can help you.

This is the most common stat priority and is used by the best Disc Priests in the entire world. When you have a Critical Strike you create a Divine Aegis which is an absorption shield. For that reason, Critical Strike is very important. Jhazrun, the priest who solo-healed the World First: Heroic Garrosh 10M raid team prioritizes it a bit differently. This is also effective. In 25man raids this is especially true. This is because of how our 90 talents and spell usage differs between 10 and 25 man raids.

What is comfortable? Whatever it takes to down the boss and not be out of mana for the fight. What it does NOT mean is being able to do the entire fight at full mana. Whenever I see a Disc Priest with an insane amount of Spirit I either kick them from the raid, ask them why they have so much Spirit or tell the Raidleader they should kick the priest.

You don't want to go for too much haste, because at this point in the expansion your regen may not be able to cope with it. Post by Panik8 So haste is multiplicative, whats the math for that? Correct me if I'm wrong. As for a comfortable level, well, you're going to be the judge of that. But, honestly, you shouldn't be using Renew enough, and you should be using PW:S often enough, so that you don't have to be concerned with Haste too much, as far as Renew's extra tick is concerned.

However, if you like to Smite, get as much Haste as you reasonably can, without dropping your other stats too low either. As for any stat, more is better, only getting more of a stat means you'll get less of another and all stats work in synergy for a Discipline Priest.

Post by Pachuca seems a little low, but considering you're in level gear, there's still room for improvement. I would recommend that if you're looking to get into raiding, you're going to want Spirit on every piece of gear you walk in there with. I see a lot of your pieces don't have Spirit, so reforge something like haste or crit into Spirit on those pieces, or better yet replace them with pieces that have Spirit already on them.

If you're not looking to get into raiding anytime soon then just figure out how much regen you need for running heroics; 2k should be just fine for heroics if you're making use of your Shadowfiend. Post by Panik8 Ok now that we got haste covered, spirit regen seems to be a challenge, Im doing roughly 2k regen every 5 secs in combat, is that good or bad?

That's relative If you go OOM before the fights are over, it's bad, if you can last through entire fights with it, it's good. You generally want to stack more and more Spirit early on, then drop it once you're comfortable with your mana base on the most intense fights. In Cataclysm, mana is a big thing for healers and will somewhat dictate your playing style.

For example, PW:S spamming requires insane amount of regen for the Priest to be able to do it for an entire fight, something I doubt you could handle in your current gear, however, that's a specific role you won't have to fill until you start raiding, and even then, it's not like PW:S spam was the only way to heal as Disc, but if that specific playing style was what you're gearing up for, you'd want more Spirit and in combat regen than if you were playing an Evangelism-based healing style.

Long story short, only you can tell if you're happy with your regen. Most of your pieces have Spirit on them, work on replacing those that haven't Chest, Wrists, Staff, Wand, Ring, Boots, Belt, maybe even Trinkets, but those that you're using aren't bad by any means As you progress through the PvE content, you'll easily find upgrades for those. That said, some pieces without Spirit have been reforged into another stat than Spirit, you might want to reforge those again and max your Spirit, if mana is an issue at all.

Here's a few recommendations you can consider if you really want to spend gold to optimize your current gear, although, to be honest, if you don't have issues healing Heroics at the moment, you can wait for upgrades in most cases, rather than spend gold on gear you'll probably replace within days or weeks, depending on how much you play the game. Shoulder: Work on your Therazane reputation wear their tabard at all times to get the shoulder enchants unlocked.

Chest: Reforge into Spirit Wrist: Enchant with Spirit, Reforge into Spirit, although, again, you can skip the enchant until you upgrade with something better, your call. Feet: Reforge into Spirit, the enchant is old, but it's Spirit. You can eventually consider Earthen Vitality for the movement speed buff.

Trinket2: Reforge into Spirit. Don't forget that those are only suggestions, reforges are cheap, but some enchants you can really wait for upgrades before investing your gold depending on how rich you are, IDK if this is your main or an alt. For pieces that already have Spirit, there's no real consensus as to what secondary stat you should focus on. See what works best for you, but keep in mind that our most vital stats at your current gear level are Intellect and Spirit.
